Had an interesting and open discussion last night about the word "morality" and how it relates to religion, atheism, and the definitions of "good" and "bad."
To intelligently work through questions like abortion, same-sex marriage, civil rights and freedom of religion, each side must find common moral ground from which to begin the discussion. It hasn't been found yet, and its location seems to be the sticky issue in the debate. Once we find it (and we must) the rest should be clear, even though it will require painful compromise.
